Beautiful Boveglio!

This is a beautiful property tucked in the mountains north of Luca. Quiet, providing a taste of the real Italy. The property was clean, beds comfortable, and was a perfect respite after a busy day of site seeing.

Picturesque Rustic Charmer

A picture says a “thousand words” and more, and so does this one of a room in Casa Cielo. This rustic charm and more, is what Casa Cielo offers. Whether it is relaxing in rustic ambience, or sitting on the rooftop patio soaking up the breathtaking vistas of the Tuscan hills, it is a beautiful experience that you will treasure for years to come.

Casa Cielo possesses all the charm of a true Tuscan experience that you are looking for with its stone walls, wooden beams and accents of days gone by. It is all that you could ask for and more with its beautiful garden, rooftop outdoor patio and picturesque hillside views. Literally steps away from Casa Cielo is a pleasant surprise, the ancient hillside small town of Boveglio, waiting to be explored.

From the moment that we were rescued at the train station (we ran into challenges because we did not have a rental car) by Luca the owner, he did his best to ensure our comfort and happiness. This ranged from helping us to acquire a rental car (Please reserve yours ahead of your arrival. It is a challenge and quite costly to acquire a rental on the same day that you need it. You absolutely need a rental to make the winding steep uphill trek to Casa Cielo) to waiting for us while we shopped for groceries. He went above and beyond. Thanks for making us feel so welcomed Luca! The three bedroom villa with its spacious romantic bathroom, kitchen and bedrooms, was clean, comfortable and well equipped for our family of four.

Other hillside towns such as, Benabbio, Colonarra, Collodi and Bagna de Lucca are all within a 15 minutes’ drive and are worth a visit. Each of these towns has its own points of interest and all but one have at least one good place to eat. We had a great visit, just absolutely enjoyed Tuscany and all its beauty. The location of Casa Cielo offers a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the larger centres, while at the same time is in easy reach of these centres by car, bus, and train. Both Florence and Pisa are just over an hour away, Lucca 35 minutes, and the ocean another 25 by car. There is lots to see and do in Tuscany. We look forward to returning. Have a great vacation!

Fairy Tale setting

My husband and I were amazed at what we found we got to this lovely house in Boveglio. It is even more beautiful than in the photos. The hills are so scenic and the apartment itself is so spacious and perfect. It is clean and even though it is ancient, it is really incredibly comfortable. We had spent the prior week in Florence where it had been crowded and very hot, so we were really ready for a quiet and comfortable place to rest. And this is just what we did. We had planned to travel the countryside and did do a little bit of touring to Bagni di Lucca and Collodi and a day in Lucca. But we were also content to spend many hours enjoying the scenery and the accommodations. The restorations were clearly done with much care and skill. The spa that comes with the apartment is amazing- a hot tub and a sauna!

We were met by Lisa-Luca was not in the area but kept in touch by email. Lisa was helpful getting us settled in and we didn't really need anything more from her for the rest of the stay. She was kind and helpful, but language was a bit of an issue. Didn't cause us a problem, but just good to know.

The tiny town of Boveglio is charming with its narrow winding streets. Although the people kept to themselves, it was fun to see a town that is not effected greatly by the tourism that the rest of the places we visited were. Every day except Sunday, the bread truck stopped at the town and we were able to buy fresh bread as needed without going into a bigger town.

I can't recommend any property more highly. We've stayed in many Home Away properties and this one wins the prize!
